NOVELLUS CONCEPT 2 Dual Sequel reactor is the most sophisticated of NOVELLUS Concept 2 reactors. It is a batch-type reactor, meaning that it can process multiple batches of feedstock simultaneously. The reactor allows for quick process changes with a menu driven interface, as well as improved operator safety due to the segregated process flows. The Dual Sequel reactor contains two main chambers, both of which run in parallel and can independently be used to process different batches of feedstock. These reactors are also characterized by excellent corrosion and erosion resistance due to the use of NOVELLUS proprietary Hastelloy and HP alloy construction, as well as a triple-sealed chamber and jacket design. The reactor is equipped with four process ports for the introduction of feedstock, catalyst and components for feedstock modification, as well as a sampling port for the analysis of material contained within the reactor. The ports are surrounded by a heavy duty stainless steel housing for improved safety and are designed to run in pressurized or vacuum service. The feedstock flows through the reactor, passing through the reaction section where it is agitated, heated and cooled as needed. NOVELLUS utilizes continuous or semi-continuous process control depending on the type of feedstock and requirements. The reactor is also equipped with heat exchangers situated in the heating and cooling stages to maximize thermal control. The Dual Sequel reactor also features a stripper section with a reboiler. The reboiler allows for the efficient converging of several reaction products, as well as the separation of unreacted feedstock prior to the discharge port. Other features of the Dual Sequel reactor include an instrumention package for continuous monitoring of key process variables such as pressure, temperature, and flow rate. CONCEPT 2 Dual Sequel Reactor is a state-of-the-art batch reactor offering excellent reactor dynamics, process flexibility, control capability, operator safety, and high levels of product quality and consistency. Furthermore, the reactor enables the production of new compounds not readily available in the traditional batch process.
