THOMAS SWAN 19x2 is a light water reactor designed for small modular power plants. The unique and compact design of the reactor allows the use of a single-circuit configuration. 19x2 reactor is a low-power pressurized water reactor (PWR) that is capable of generating up to 10 megawatts of electricity. THOMAS SWAN 19x2 reactor is powered by enriched uranium fuel that is made up of 1.5 mm thick clad UO2 pellets with a 3.4% enrichment level. Theses fuel pellets are wrapped in a zirconium alloy cladding and loaded into horizontal fuel channels located in the reactor core. The reactor core has a width of 4.4m and is suspended in a pool of water in the containment vessel.
