Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), 8" 1997 vintage.
HITACHI AS 5000 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is an innovative and powerful SEM equipment for high resolution imaging and characterization of a variety of sample types both large and small. HITACHI AS5000 is capable of capturing up to 10 kHz imaging rates, using a full range of scan sizes and angles, with a highly efficient electron detector. This makes the system ideal for a variety of different application requirements, from high resolution imaging of light samples to sub-micron analyses. The unit incorporates the latest in scanning hardware and software. AS-5000 is equipped with a cold field emission source, with an extracted acceleration voltage of up to 30kV and excellent spot brightness. The high-end electron optics of the instrument allows the SEM to image over a large depth of field, while spot focus is obtained with an automated focus-voltage correction machine. Improved imaging resolution is achieved with an optional, automated stigmator, which allows up to 6-axis correction for optimal sample imaging. Also, the high resolution of AS 5000 is coupled with a new, enhanced secondary count capability which allows sample analysis even at low voltages, ideal for secondary counts. Added flexibility to the tool is provided through additional accessories, including a sample auto-mounter, a low-vacuum stage, an AQS (Atomic Quantity Spectrometer) controller, variable pressure coordination including high and low vacuum, and a range of stages. This enables the asset to analyze samples with greater accuracy and faster scanning speeds across a variety of imaging applications. The powerful AS5000 SEM from HITACHI has been designed to ensure optimum efficiency and consistency of imaging performance. Its advanced electron optics and detection capabilities, coupled with a range of dedicated accessories to improve imaging performance, provide an ideal solution for laboratories and research institutes alike, where high resolution SEM imaging is required.
