HITACHI TM-1000 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is a powerful analytical tool designed for macro and submicron level examination of the structures, surfaces and composition of solid state materials. The SEM is equipped with a high magnification and high resolution C-SEM imaging equipment, that can be used for observation and/or nanomeasurement of cross-sectional samples as well as plan-view specimens. With exceptional visual resolution, HITACHI TM 1000 allows for the study of samples at magnifications up to x1000,000, and with an image size of up to 25.0mm x 17.5mm. TM-1000 is equipped with an energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) spectrometer that allows users to perform a wide range of elemental analysis. The EDX spectrometer system allows users to make multiple measurements of the samples while they are still in the SEM, eliminating the need to remove the sample from the instrument for further analysis. TM 1000 is also equipped with an improved SED (secondary electron detection) unit that allows for high-contrast three-dimensional imaging of sample surfaces. For samples with heterogeneous materials, HITACHI TM-1000 also features an imaging mode that offers superior contrast for identifying different materials on the surface of the sample. This mode, called "EDS imaging", utilizes EDX spectrometry technology to identify different materials within the sample. This is an extremely useful tool for studying materials with multiple components. HITACHI TM 1000 also is designed to allow for the study of high-aspect ratio sample structures, such as vertical nanowires or holes, with its tilted specimen stage. The tilted stage comes with a closed loop control machine, which allows it to automatically tilt the sample to a desired angle. The stage is also capable of adjusting the incident angle of the electron to the sample, providing better contrast when needed. TM-1000, with its combination of high magnification, high resolution imaging, EDX spectroscopy and tilted stage, is an incredibly powerful SEM for materials analysis. That, along with an easy-to-use user interface and a number of other features, make it an ideal instrument for a variety of research environments.
