PHILIPS CM100 Biotwin is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) designed for operation in a broad range of applications. With its high resolution, low-noise imaging capabilities, and versatile sample preparation techniques, the BioTwin is an excellent choice for a variety of imaging needs from basic science research to industrial process improvement. CM100 Biotwin utilizes an up-to-date applied-Field Emission (FE) gun design for its electron beam. It is capable of generating an operating magnification level of up to 80,000x, as well as an array of imaging modes and features. Additionally, its resolution and contrast performance are excellent, making it well-suited for a range of imaging applications, including both semi-insulating and non-linear materials. The scanning rate of the Biotwin can be adjusted from 5nm to 0.1m per minute, allowing for a wide variety of applications. It has two main operating modes: the high-voltage mode, which is used to examine large, non-conductive samples, and the low-voltage mode, which is ideal for examining conductive and semi-conductive samples. The Biotwin is also equipped with a secondary electron signal detector, allowing for the collection of secondary electrons which can provide additional information for local detection and imaging of very small topographical features. The Biotwin's sample preparation stages are highly versatile, allowing for the mounting and observation of a wide variety of sample materials. It has a range of sample holders suited for samples of different materials, sizes, and shapes. It also contains a backscatter electron detecting arrangement and an optical stage for examining thin specimens and mounting them on stubs for transfer into the vacuum of the SEM chamber and imaging. The Biotwin comes with a full suite of complementary software, allowing for offline data processing, imaging, and analysis. It also offers an optional integrated digital stage which can be used to move the sample stage and dramatically reduce the time needed for accessing different sections of the sample. In short, PHILIPS CM100 Biotwin offers a host of generating imaging, contrast, and resolution levels that make it ideal for a variety of applications. Its versatile sample preparation features, low noise, and broad range of operating modes make it an invaluable tool for research, process improvement, and educational programs.
