PHILIPS / FEI CM12 is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) designed for a wide range of applications in scientific research, industrial quality control and technology development. FEI CM12 is capable of collecting a variety of signals simultaneously, including secondary and backscattered electrons, secondary and reflected ions, and photomultiplier outputs. It also incorporates an energy-filtering system to further enhance the resolution and contrast of recorded images. PHILIPS CM 12 is equipped with an in-column backscattered electron detector and variable solid angle detectors to provide a dynamic resolution range of up to 5 nm with a vacuum capability of up to 10 Torr. The EMISSION-controlled column is capable of 0.3nm resolution, and the sample stage has maximum sample tilt up to 60 degrees with piezo sample translation up to 30 μm for large samples and high resolution imaging. The extended depth of field feature on FEI CM 12 helps to reduce drift, allowing for faster image acquisitions. For minimal sample preparation, CM 12 can collect data in both as-deposited and heated states. This can be achieved through the adjustable sample-stage temperatures for thermal oxidation, etching and other sample preparation techniques. CM12 also comes with analytical software that enables the automated selection of regions of interest and accurate measurement of the selected area. The automated interpretation tools and precision alignment tools are designed to simplify routine data capture and improve the production of complex images. The internal image storage device of PHILIPS / FEI CM 12 can store up to 8 GB of data to allow for automatic recall of previously recorded images. For faster image processing and data transfer, an integrated USB port is also included. Overall, PHILIPS CM12 is an extremely powerful tool that can be used to collect highly detailed images of samples.
