PHILIPS / FEI Quanta 250 FEG (Focused Electron Gun) is a highly advanced scanning electron microscope equipped with a wide range of features. It is an ideal instrument for characterizing the microstructural features, 3D topography, composition and texture of a variety of materials. This powerful microscope utilizes a focused electron beam to obtain high resolution images and magnifications up to 800,000x. The primary components of FEI Quanta 250 FEG are the electron gun, the probe control equipment, the sample stage, and the imaging system. The electron gun produces and directs the high energy electrons, which are focused by the probe control unit, into a probe beam. The sample stage can rotate and tilt the sample in order to obtain the desired view. The imaging machine is capable of recording both secondary as well as backscattered electron images. In addition to its powerful imaging capabilities, PHILIPS Quanta 250 FEG offers a range of innovative features to increase the accuracy of the images. These features include energy filtering of the electron beams, Pb Filter to reduce the charging effects on insulators, Faraday Cup to measure the beam current, and Contour Mode to precisely analyze the 3D surface of the sample. Quanta 250 FEG is also designed with a chamber cooling mechanism to reduce charging, provide a sufficiently stable environment for the sample, and improve contrast fidelity. This makes it feasible to examine non-conducting or radiation sensitive samples without the aid of a cryogenic cooling tool. PHILIPS / FEI Quanta 250 FEG is truly a powerful instrument to meet the requirements of modern research. Its combination of advanced features, high resolution imaging capabilities, and versatile sample environment makes it an invaluable tool in the research laboratory.
