TESCAN Vega II SBH is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) designed to provide exceptional visual and analytical capabilities for the analysis of a range of samples. It is suitable for use in both research and educational contexts. The instrument comprises an electron-opaque column that is enclosed within a large, vibration-free chamber. This chamber encompasses an analytical column that is driven by a linear servo motor. An optical system is incorporated, enabling the user to view the sample from different angles. Vega II SBH is capable of generating images with a resolution of down to 3 nm. The instrument utilizes accelerations of up to 20kV and 50A, providing a strong capacity for energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The beam current is monitored and the scanning speed can be pre-set. EBSD (electron backscatter diffraction) is possible with TESCAN Vega II SBH, making detection of crystallographic orientations and material defects achievable. This system can also be used for automated particle analysis with Aquilos Elementer software. Vega II SBH contains a graphite monochromator which enables the user to perform cathode luminescence (CL) and secondary electron (SE) imaging, both of which can be used in the observation of material characteristics. In addition, this SEM is capable of a range of additional analytical techniques, such as wavelength dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (WDXS) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS). Finally, all images and data acquired by the analyzer are stored using the dedicated ARTA software, allowing for data analysis and interpretation in both real-time and offline. This system also enables easy access to multiple image formats and file types. Overall, TESCAN Vega II SBH is a highly versatile and powerful electron microscope that facilitates a range of analytical techniques, making it a useful tool for many applications in educational and research contexts.
