DISCO DAD 641 is a scribing or slicing equipment utilizing a German high-precision rotary indexer developed by DISCO. The system is based on a 6-axes kinematic architecture with three independent servo-driven precision rotary axes and three independent feed axes with ballscrews. The unit includes a high-precision granite base with a linear scale-caliper and a static angular indexer to ensure superior accuracy and repeatability. This ensures the machine produces consistent results even when the movements between coordinates are repeated multiple times. Furthermore, the granite base has a proprietary damping tool to further reduce vibrations due to the dynamic components of the indexer. This further increases precision and repeatability of the asset. The rotary indexer of DISCO DAD641 is driven by a servo motor and operates in incremental and absolute mode. The rotary indexer is accurate up to 100 nm in-axis motion with a minimum revolution of 0.001° and a maximum acceleration of 2,000 Kgf. This allows for quick direction changes, positioning and replicating the decision points with great accuracy. DAD 641 is further equipped with an Automatic Positioning Model (APS) which enables the machine to rapidly change from one coordinate to another. The APS allows the machine to switch back and forth between the linear feeds and the rotary indexer quickly and accurately. This reduces machining time and the need for multiple setups when dealing with complex components. In addition to the rotary indexer and APS, DAD641 has a high-speed spindle to allow for quick drilling and cutting operations as well as a C axis for creating complex surface profiles. The spindle is powered by a 2.2 kW inverter allowing for a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm and a maximum acceleration of 50 m/s2. The spindle head is also equipped with a high-precision air-bearing allowing for precision drilling. All in all, the 641 is an outstanding machine for scribing or dicing operations with its high-precision rotary indexer, Automatic Positioning Equipment, spindle and C-axis. The machine has proven its mettle in producing complex parts with accuracy and repeatability without multiple setups.
