DISCO DFD 6361, developed by DISCO Hi-Tec America, is a scribing/dicing equipment that is capable of performing ultra-precise cutting of various types of materials. This state-of-the-art system is designed to meet the extreme requirements in the production of flat-panel displays and other optoelectronic components made of glass and crystalline materials such as quartz, sapphire, and silicon. DISCO DFD6361 features a 3-axis motion unit - X (+/- 100mm), Y (+/-200mm) and Z (+/- 0.2 mm) - and a three-axis CNC-controlled scriber head in order to assure accuracy. The cutting tool is a fine diamond scriber delivering accuracy with a deviation of 10 microns, or less, over a 200-mm-long cutting path. The DC motor spindle supports a maximum speed of 2 millimeters per second. The machine works in three ways: scribing, separating, and part picking. During scribing, a fine diamond knife is used to make exact and precise cuts which can reach depths as shallow as 10 microns. For separating, a vacuum tool enables the parts to be separated with high accuracy. Part picking involves using special nozzle powered by compressed air to apply direct pressure on a blade for separating the pieces by quickly pushing a cut surface in the opposite direction of the cut. The asset is fully automated and requires little to no manual intervention during operation. Its integrated unitary vision camera model can identify and differentiate between different materials while auto-focusing on objects to ensure a high-performance cutting experience. Additionally, the equipment can also be connected to a computer via an RS232C connection in order to facilitate gradual traceability of the working pieces, on top of its several safety features that guarantee that it is virtually impossible to cause any unintended damage to the tool or material. DFD 6361 is designed to provide extreme precision when cutting materials for different optoelectronic components. It is a powerful system that offers a wide range of features and is capable of delivering a cost-effective production solution even with the most difficult materials.
