MRC Eclipse Mark II is a reactive sputtering equipment used for creating thin films of various materials on different substrates. The system employs the principle of magnetron sputtering, which involves the bombardment of an inert gas with high-energy ions. The ions sputter off material from the cathode, the target material, onto the substrate. Eclipse Mark II features a direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering source, with a 8" solid target, mounted on a 0-90° rotatable substrate holder. The unit is capable of sputtering up to four targets simultaneously, allowing for multilayer thin film deposition. Various magnetrons, gas inserts, and shutter assemblies are available, allowing for matchless flexibility and configuration to the user's desired process. The 3-inch diameter chamber is constructed of low-thermal expansion material and features a pumping machine that has a base vacuum of 0.05 mBar. This level of vacuum provides the necessary environment for ultra-thin film deposition and surface engineering to be completed more effectively. The tool is equipped with comprehensive automation controls including a 4-axis servo controller and a programmable logic controller. This provides precise and efficient automation of the entire deposition process. The asset is also compatible with an offline recipe editor and a dedicated deposition control software. This allows users to easily configure and customize their process to suit each application requirement. MRC Eclipse Mark II is designed for use in R&D and industrial applications, such as sputter coating, protective coatings, and advanced thin film structures. Additionally, the model can be used for optical or mechanical components, consumer electronics, dielectrics, and a variety of other industrial applications. Eclipse Mark II provides high throughput while at the same time providing accurate and reproducible deposition processes. Ultimately, the equipment provides a balanced combination of simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency.
