CINCINNATI Machine CINCINNATI D4 Series Wafer Grinding, Lapping & Polishing Equipment is a compact, high precision, and cost-effective manufacturing tool that is capable of achieving excellent part finishes on four-inch wafers in a single step. The system features an industry-leading five-axis design with a maximum working area of 5"×4.5", featuring an on-the-fly adjustable cross feed rate of up to 50 mm/s and a zero-force assisted vacuum chuck for easy loading and unloading. The unit is equipped with an integrated process controller, providing full control over machine motion, as well as indexable X-Y-Z stages and a fully integrated precision rotary table for precise material removal. D4 also features fully enclosed and dustproof workcells for clean operation, along with an intuitive user interface for easy programming and operation. The machine utilizes a diamond surface grinding wheel in combination with a low-speed, low-shock (lapping) grinding spindle to effectively grind and polish both sides of a 4-inch wafer at once. The lapping spindle is driven by high-torque, precision vector servomotors, and it is capable of producing a variety of lapping patterns including line patterns, spiral patterns and circular patterns. Additionally, the tool features a high-precision planetary polishing head that can be used to etch surfaces and remove particles, while an independently positioned diamond brushing head allows for the smoothing of surfaces. The asset is equipped with a variety of safety features, including motion limit sensors and dual-sensor safety systems to limit rotation speeds and ensure precise control over grinding and lapping processes. CINCINNATI D4 also provides various job management capabilities, including a powerful job queue and a fully automated job scheduling model for precise job management.
