PETER WOLTERS AC 320 is a state-of-the-art chemo-mechanical wafer grinding, lapping & polishing system, perfect for the machining of a wide variety of electronic components. With two grinding spindles, two lapping spindles and two polishing spindles, AC 320 system sets the industry standard for flexibility, performance and cost-effectiveness. PETER WOLTERS AC 320 utilizes a combination of chemical, mechanical and thermal processes to achieve superior machining results. Chemical milling is achieved by the use of a specifically tailored acid solution to ensure the uniform removal of the electronic component's material, leaving behind a clean and smooth substrate. Mechanical grinding is achieved through the use of diamond grinders and lapping plates which abrade the substrate surface, while still preserving its integrity. And thermal processing is used to anneal and fine-tune the substrate before the polishing process takes place. AC 320's grinding, lapping and polishing heads are individually driven by high-powered servo motors that are capable of reaching operational speeds from 0 RPM up to 2500 RPM with excellent accuracy. Special amplifier units with the capability to measure and display the relative motion of the spindle ensure that the results are precise and repeatable.
