It provides precisely controlled surfacing operations, including grinding, lapping, and polishing, with features like automated wafer handling, and a variable polishing pressure. The system utilizes a precision spindle and linear motors allowing for repeatable and exact results. For grinding, the unit is equipped with a precision diamond wheel which produces small and precise cuts for applications such as thinning and beveling of wafers, and provides a superior processing quality. The spindle rotation speed is adjustable between 5,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm for a higher rate of removal on the harder materials. The machine also features a grinding head attachment with stationary arms for superior precision in both inclined and straight-grind configurations. The lapping function uses a high-accuracy, low-profile spindle that provides an integrated accuracy of < 1 µm for superb results.
