ASML Twinscan XT 1200 is a PAS 5500/6500 wafer stepper that is used for lithography of semiconductor substrates. It is one of the most precise optical machines used in the manufacturing of integrated circuits today. It has the capability to pattern features down to 20 nm in size, with a precise step size accuracy of +/- 0.5nm. Twinscan XT 1200 is outfitted with a Synchroscan® Scanning System, equipped with stages that provide an X-Y scanning of the wafer with a high degree of linearity and speed stability. The stage can achieve a maximum speed of 240mm/second, with a maximum acceleration of 40G. In addition, the stage incorporates Pitch and Roll auto correction sensors to maintain alignment of the pattern across the entire scanned area. ASML Twinscan XT 1200 is capable of exposing up to 300mm diameter wafer substrates with resolution settings as low as 0.45 μm/pixel. This ultra-high resolution capability allows for more precise and accurate patterns to be produced. The machine is also equipped with a Crop Alignment System (CAS), which allows for alignment of small wafer segments for precise placement of features within a wafer. Twinscan XT 1200 also uses Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG's) and Long Working Distance objectives (LWD) to allow for exposure of semi-custom layers and designs. These waveguide gratings are less prone to distortion and provide wider field-of-view (FOV), thereby allowing improved throughput. The LWD objectives offer superb depth-of-field (DOF), resulting in sharper images. ASML Twinscan XT 1200 is a highly reliable and efficient production system for today's semiconductor industry. It is known for its accuracy and speed, and is capable of producing high-quality patterns with a greater feature density than other machines of its size. It is also capable of addressing a range of applications, from digital ICs and control ICs to analog ICs and power ICs, making it a versatile tool for the modern chip manufacture.
