ASML XT 1250B is a highly specialized wafer stepper, designed for high performance, precision alignment of semiconductors and other integrated circuits for sub-micron technology. This 10-zone stepper allows for exacting precision and speed of production of wafers up to 12-inches in diameter. It features a patented "in-plane" scanning technique which enables the equipment to rapidly scan and deliver wafers with extremely uniform and smooth surfaces. The stepper also features an advanced 5-axis alignment system which allows for precise positioning and tracking during production. ASML XT:1250B utilizes a high-resolution scan head that provides 6-micron resolution and 254 nm wavelength for topography detection during scanning. The high-resolution optics and motor control provide a very smooth positioning motion, which increases both the accuracy and the speed of production. The combination of the optics and the high-resolution scanner allows for a wafer-level laser inspection procedure during production. The unit is powered by a powerful yet efficient 1.4 GHz Intel Pentium processor, and operates on a 32-bit Windows 98 operating machine. The tool allows for the connection of up to four PCs making it easily expandable and capable of carrying out very large production jobs. XT 1250B also offers a unique ability to automate and control production with a built-in automation asset. The automation model allows for data analysis, recipe control, as well as camera and scanner alignment. The automation equipment can be upgraded to offer more flexibility and further automation features. XT:1250B is a top-of-the-line wafer stepper that provides high speed production and accuracy. Although the initial cost may be high, companies that need high precision in semiconductor and sub-micron production can save significantly in the long run, thanks to its fast operation and automation capabilities.
