RAMGRABER 2009 is a wet station designed to optimize the efficiency of the ramgrab sampling process. It is an automated equipment that collects up to 24,000 water samples from water bodies in a single day and efficiently delivers them to the laboratory for analysis. A key feature of 2009 is its small footprint and space efficient design that enables sampling in situations where a large marine vessel would not fit. The system is designed to be quickly and efficiently deployed without the need for additional structures. Once RAMGRABER 2009 has been deployed, its sampling arm and platform float on water and move over the chosen area with relative ease. This is made possible by a network of sensors and computer-assisted algorithms which enable the sampling arm and platform to accurately predict water depth and topography and determine the best locations to safely and reliably deploy its sampling arm. The sampling arm of 2009 is composed of a series of block-shape samplers which move across the surface of the water and take water samples at specified levels. The samples taken by the arm are secured in Nalgene bottles and the bottles are emptied into vessels called grab buckets. The grab buckets are then remotedly controlled and sent back to RAMGRABER 2009 platform where they can be safely retrieved. 2009 is equipped with other features which help process the water samples effectively. This includes an onboard analytical laboratory capable of performing basic water quality analysis, as well as a central computer unit that stores the data collected from all samples. There is also a mobile communication machine installed which allows for remote monitoring and control of RAMGRABER 2009 platform and sampling arm. Overall, 2009 is an efficient and effective wet station for the collection and analysis of up to 24,000 water samples per day. It is an ideal tool for researchers and scientists in all aquatic environments.
