PHILIPS / FEI FIB 200 is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) designed for applications in nanoscale imaging and analysis of materials. It is capable of capturing high-resolution images and contours of samples at or below 10 nm resolution. FEI FIB 200 features a powerful field emission gun (FEG) with electron nanolithography capabilities. The column is equipped with an electrostatic quadrupole primary energy filter to further maximize resolution, while a retractable secondary filter assures contamination-free imaging. A variety of in-column detectors are available, including a backscattered electron (BSE) detector, fluorescent X-ray detector, secondary electron (SE) detector, and gaseous secondary electron (GSE) detector. PHILIPS FIB-200 has a high-resolution sample stage that can accommodate samples up to 200 mm in size, and a wide selection of automated sample holders that provide quick and easy changeovers. An enclosed Gas Injection System (GIS) allows for the deposition of metallic layers by sputtering, electropolishing, and ion-beam processing. This versatility enables the researcher to pattern, characterize, and modify samples with minimum effort. PHILIPS FIB 200 can be operated as a conventional SEM, or as an omni-directional gas injection microscope (OMIG), capable of in-situ observation and micro-processing of samples. It is also equipped with electron beam lithography (EBL) to provide precise two-dimensional patterning applications. In addition to FIB 200, FEI offers a range of modular accessories that can be added to the microscope for more specialized applications. This includes a digital video system to provide real-time video broadcasting, a scanning ion minibeam system for analysis of insulator surfaces, and an automated stage controller for multiple-axis stage movements. PHILIPS / FEI FIB-200 is an optimal choice for nanoscale imaging and nanofabrication of materials. Its combination of high-performance components, wide selection of automated sample holders and accessories, and omni-directional operation make it a powerful tool for research in nanotechnology.
